Osaka – 55 anos depois, desenhar o futuro
MUDE – Museu do Design

55 years ago, Portugal participated in the 1970 Osaka World Exposition under the motto Progress and Harmony for Humanity, with a pavilion designed by Frederico George, with the active collaboration of Daciano da Costa and António Garcia. The project and some pieces designed for the interior of the pavilion can be explored in detail at this exhibition, in partnership with the Atelier Daciano da Costa.

The Bordalo Pinheiro Museum is organising an outdoor exhibition that explores the influence of Japonisme on the artistic work of Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro. From ceramics to graphic arts, this theme resonates within the museum itself, where some of the originals featured in the exhibition-installation are on display.

A Japanese bookbinding workshop run by Casa Nic e Inês, which invites participants to become "the editors" of a new book by Fernando Pessoa - his personal anthology. Participants can also choose one of five specially designed covers, featuring illustrations by five Portuguese artists: André Letria, Catarina Sobral, Inês Oliveira, João Fazenda and Yara Kono.

A conversation about Japanese poetry in translation and a reading of poems by four contemporary Japanese poets. Poems read in both Portuguese and Japanese. Translations by André Pinto Teixeira.
