The selection process for the new direction of the Municipal Galleries has been completed.
The process was carried out by a jury panel made up of Joana Gomes Cardoso, president of the Board of Directors of EGEAC, and the curators Isabel Carlos and Sérgio Mah, and Tobi Maier was chosen as the new director.
Tobi Maier (1976) is an art critic, curator and lecturer. He was curator at the Frankfurter Kunstverein (2006-2008) and the MINI/Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residencies Ludlow 38 in New York (2008-2011). He was associate curator of the 30th Bienal de São Paulo (2011-2012). He holds a Masters in Curatorial Studies from the Royal College of Art (London) and a PhD in Visual Poetics (ECA-USP). He collaborates with several contemporary art magazines. He is co-founder of the SOLO SHOWS exhibition space in São Paulo (2015-2018).
