Christmas at Misericórdia Parish Council
The Misericórdia Parish Council proposes three Christmas concerts to take place on the 8th, 11th and 18th of December. In addition to the artistic quality of each concert, the public will have the opportunity to visit three different churches, in the territory of Misericórdia, considered monuments of the highest importance in the city of Lisbon. They are the Church of the Convent of Cardaes, a 17th-century building that survived the 1755 earthquake and is therefore one of the few pre-Pombaline structures that exists today, Church of Nossa Senhora das Mercês, belonging to the former Convent of Nossa Senhora de Jesus where the Academy of Sciences has been located since 1838, and the Church of Santa Catarina, also referred to as Igreja do Convento dos Paulistas or Igreja de Santa Catarina do Monte Sinai and which was built in the 17th century and is considered an ex libris of baroque architecture.
