The Trezena to Saint Anthony

The Trezena to Saint Anthony is believed to have originated in Bologna, Italy. It was the year 1617 when a lady in need of an important favour from the heavens appealed insistently to Saint Anthony over nine Tuesdays, fervently praying. With her prayers answered, her example was followed by others and it soon became a common practice. It involves a series of prayers, each one different but all to Saint Anthony, performed in the days before the 13th June.
