Antiprincesas | Violeta Parra
At these story-time sessions for boys and girls we will get to know one of the protagonists of the Antiprincesas collection: Violeta Parra, a Chilean singer and composer who lived an extraordinary life and left an enormous legacy.
Through the dramatised reading of her life, we will remember a flesh-and blood heroine, whose life was no fairytale, but who always fought for what she believed in.
The Antiprincesas collection (Tinta da China/EGEAC), in addition to Violeta Parra, tells the stories of three more inspiring women: Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, the Bolivian military leader of indigenous ancestry Juana Azurduy and Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector. These women don’t have crowns, don’t live in castles and don’t have superpowers. They are real women, but ones who challenged the norm and revolutionised the world through art, literature or politics.
