Festival Silêncio (Silence Festival)
Festival Silêncio is back in 2017 to present the public with a programme in which every ones has a say. With a transdisciplinary and participative programme, Festival Silêncio celebrates the word as a vehicle for knowledge and an act of creation.
Over four days, the word will cover different genres and languages, encouraging contact with artistic expressions and knowledge. The general programme, at the same time as celebrating the various expressions of the word, includes a special focus each year on one word and one author.
In 2017, the choice has gone to the work of Maria Gabriela Llansol and the word Voz (Voice). In addition to this, the festival programme includes a section dedicated to independent publishers and another dedicated to children. Hundreds of activities will be spread across seven categories: cinema, conversations, exhibitions, music, workshops and pastimes, performance and the artistic residency Casa-Palavra.
Festival Silêncio is of a popular nature with open access and encourages everyone to participate in the activities and initiatives outlined on the programme. This participative side is also present in the many and varied interactive and intergenerational initiatives, including the Jardim das Palavras project, created in partnership with the Associação Ensaios e Diálogos.
