Festas de Lisboa
Casamentos de Santo António
On 12 June, at 11.30 am, the most popular marriage event in Lisbon returns, bringing together 16 couples for both civil and religious ceremonies. The celebration will kick off at the City Hall at 11.30 with civil weddings, and continues at 2:00 pm with Catholic weddings at Lisbon Cathedral. Beginning in 1958, the tradition of Saint Anthony’s Weddings was interrupted precisely fifty years ago with the April Revolution, but was reinstated in 1997 by the Lisbon City Council. Since then, 400 weddings have taken place (275 religious and 125 civil).
