Lisboa Soa (2017)

This year the Lisboa Soa is taking place over three days at the Estufa Fria de Lisboa. Sound art can be defined as a series of practices that use sound and hearing as a theme or subject matter. In recent years it has become an innovative and growing field within the world of contemporary art.

How to interact with the natural beauty of a cave with water? The orchestration emerges as you listen to the relationship between objects, space, water, and shadows.

Cactusworkestra

CactusWorkestra is a plastic and sound creation based on the instrumentation of prepared and sound-emitting cacti, positioned in the Estufa Doce in various positions and constellations. Passing visitors can interact with the cacti individually or collectively.

At FAUNA, we have created an artificial ecosystem that recreates an imaginary animal life.

Max Stein EUA

The installations of Jen Reimer and Max Stein invite our ears to concentrate on the music of the places we find ourselves in and draw our attention to certain characteristics of the urban environment which might otherwise go unnoticed.

Cláudia Martinho PT

Cláudia Martinho’installation explores the sound space as a vibration. For the Lisboa Soa will present a sound installation in a double-spiral structure based on the flower of life, with natural materials.

André Gonçalves PT

At the Estufa Fria de Lisboa, André Gonçalves will explore the sounding of a water fall.

Juan Sorrentino ARG

Juan Sorrentino (1978) is an Argentinean artist, musician and composer. In his work, through concerts and sound installations, he explores concepts of visual language, poetic context and collective imagination.

Cycles
Sonic close-up with live crickets Acheta Domesticus.

Agapea employs all available technological means: sound is produced with DIY and other analogue synthesisers and manipulated by computer software, and environmental sounds are captured with a recorder used as a sound amplification detector. This performance is also a dialogue between crickets and humans, as well as a dialogue between humans and technology.

String Practice

A performance that combines strings, long wires stretched within the space and pre-recorded sounds. The title of this work is a playful tribute to string theory.

Combining live and processed French horn and field recordings with the inherent sonic environment they perform in, Reimer and Stein create an immersive and physical experience of sound and space.

Motto

Motto is a live outdoor concert in which 8 performers wearing sound-backpacks, equipped with microphones, amplify live sounds from the surrounding park or forest environment.

Eternal Music
You can eternally listen to André Gonçalves’ music on an app for technological devices, but you will also be able to hear it at the Estufa Fria in Lisbon, a sound journey in which we will lose ourselves in time and contemplation.

What about the quiet and hidden noises that surround us? Very often they go unnoticed, maybe because they’re so quiet, but also because our ears aren’t trained to listen to them. The “Hidden Sounds in the Park” workshop will explore these sounds.
