Magnificat in Gilded Woodcarving
CAMERATA ATLÂNTICA E CAMERATA ATLÂNTICA YOUTH CHOIR
Magnificat em Talha Dourada was created in July 1998 by Eurico Carrapatoso in his village in the district of Bragança. Reflecting on his work, the composer wrote: “It is a work illuminated by G Major, the tonality I feel in the gilded carvings and in the reverberant spaces of God. It is a tribute to the Baroque, the style where movement triumphs, the intoxicating spiral, the concert of the senses (…)”. It will be performed by Camerata Atlântica and the Camerata Atlântica Youth Choir, in the church of Nossa Senhora dos Anjos, which is covered in the carvings and paintings characteristic of Portuguese buildings of the 17th and 18th centuries.
