In addition to Mafalda Veiga’s most well-known and intimate songs, this concert will include Portuguese versions of songs by The Beatles and David Bowie. It will also feature unreleased versions of pop classics, adapted by the poet Filipa Leal, musician Rui Reininho and Ricardo Marques (poet and Patti Smith’s translator in Portugal).

Following on from Dom Quixote da Ilha, Mano Preto (from Raiz di Pólon) pays tribute to one of the greatest figures of the Cape Verdean art scene of the 20th and 21st centuries. Kodé di Dona was a composer, performer, poet, popular historian and a personality who still represents a certain badiu way of being.

Born in Cuba, the daughter of Chilean pianist and composer Carlos Maza and Cuban guitarist Mirza Sierra, Ana Carla Maza began learning the cello at age eight. Here she performs Bahia, her latest album, a mixture of classical cello and vocals, on a journey through the sounds of Cuba, samba, bossa nova, tango, jazz and chanson française.
