At Terreiro do Paço, we will celebrate 2025 with a memorable night, full of music and surprises.
On the 31st, the city’s iconic square will be transformed into a huge open-air party hall for a collective New Year’s Eve toast, under the motto Viva 2025! A night to sing and dance to the music of two great Portuguese artists from different generations.
For Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon, “this party symbolizes tradition and future, bringing together generations and communities, celebrating a dynamic and lively city that belongs to everyone”.
A pioneer of Portuguese rock, singer and composer recognized in the country and around the world – awarded with a Latin Grammy for Musical Excellence –, José Cid is the first artist to take to the stage, starting at 9:30 pm, for a surprising concert that will revisit iconic songs from a career spanning almost 70 years. Timeless songs such as A Lenda de El-rei D. Sebastião, Como o Macaco gosta de banana and Um grande, grande amor (winner of the RTP Song Festival in 1980), in a special show lasting over two hours that will feature some guests and even include Fado.
The concert will culminate with the traditional countdown to midnight, followed by a fireworks display over the Tagus River to celebrate the first ten minutes of 2025.
On stage, the party continues with a performance by Mickael Carreira, a successful pop musician who has captivated several generations of Portuguese and foreign audiences. With an 18-year career and about to release his new original album, the singer promises to get the audience dancing. Bailando!
Lisbon is ready to sing and dance to the sound of José Cid and Mickael Carreira.
