And the winning Sardines are…

This year, the Sardines Competition, an initiative by EGEAC as part of the Lisbon Festival, broke records: 6,013 proposals were submitted by more than 3,000 participants, representing 75 countries, 3,582 Portuguese proposals and 2,431 foreign ones.

The five winning Sardines of the 15th edition of the competition came from Lisbon, São Domingos de Rana, Porto and, beyond borders, from São Paulo, Brazil.

The winning Sardines are “Sabão Sardinha” by Sónia Correia de Sousa, “Tantas casas, mas não lugar para viver” by Mirjam Siim, “Entre os Pingos da Chuva” by Sofia Junqueira, “Encalcetada” by Vasco Figueiredo and, finally, the “Sardinha Bordada: A Tradição em Cada Ponto” by Ruivo.

The sardines were chosen by an internal vote of the people who work at EGEAC, as has been tradition. Each winning author receives a prize of €1,500.
