Remaining true to its policy of supporting artistic development and research into the arts, the Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar/EGEAC, in partnership with RU – Residency Unlimited (New York, USA), each year offers a Portuguese artist, or duo of artists, a three-month artistic residence at the New York institution. Catarina Real (Barcelos, 1992) is the winning artist for 2023.

Catarina Real (Barcelos, 1992) has a multidisciplinary artistic path based on collaborative modes. Highlights of her professional path include the solo shows TAMPIS (2019) at Galerie Bien curated by Babeth Rambault, Self Help Self Hope (2019) at Square, Lisbon, com um passo na mesma direcção mantemos a mesma distância (2017) at Painel, Porto and encontro dobrado em três: uma densidade mais leve que o ar / estar público durante um tempo / círculo entrópico (2017) at SOL PELE space, Guimarães, as well as collaborative exhibitions with César Gomes HEY (2019) at project Playlist, Porto; with Nuno Gonçalves T and F (2018) at Ascensor, Lisbon and with Luís Ramos dois pacotes de manteiga (2016) at Home.Alone, Clermont-Ferrand. In 2018, as a result of the collaboration with Ângelo Cid Neto, she presents the dance play Ensaio Nu / Enlace entre Pensamentos at Teatro do Campo Alegre. Also with Ângelo, she presents in 2019 a capital t maiúsculo é igual à raiz quadrada de e maiúsculo vezes t minúsculo sobre quatro at Coliseu Ageas, Porto and palavras da relação 2+12, in co-creation with a group from the Euterpe Alhandrense Society, where it was presented. She has been an artist in residency artistic at Espaço do Tempo, Espaço Alkantara, Bienal de Coruche, Forum Dança, Artistes em Residence, Casa Oficina António Carneiro, among other spaces. Between 2015-2016 she was part of the curatorial team of Galeria Painel, Porto (together with José Costa, Tiago Madaleno and Luís Ramos), and between 2017-2018 she coordinated, alongside David Silva Revés, the cycle of conversations In Em Montagem, at Appleton Square, Lisbon.
