With the title “On Buidings and Food,” Open House Lisboa returns on the weekend of 9–10 May. In its 15th edition, the city’s largest celebration of architecture will showcase spaces and infrastructures that shape Lisbon’s food landscape. Anísio Franco, historian and deputy director of the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, and architect Mariana Sanchez Salvador curate this edition.
Open House Lisboa will open kitchens, infrastructures, back-of-house spaces, and sites of production, trade, and waste management.
This 15th edition of the Trienal de Arquitetura de Lisboa, in partnership with EGEAC – Lisboa Cultura, features three venues from the Museu de Lisboa: the Palácio Pimenta, set within a former stately estate; the Fábrica de Moagem, an important example of the food industry from the 19th and 20th centuries; and the Casa dos Bicos, where archaeological remains of Roman fish-salting tanks can be found.
Also included in the program are the Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar, a former warehouse converted into a museum space, and two venues from the Municipal Galleries: the Pavilhão Branco, part of the Palácio Pimenta complex, and the Galeria Quadrum, which operates in a space originally designed to serve as a restaurant and bar supporting the municipal studios at Quinta dos Coruchéus.
