Teatro Variedades

Opened in 1926 and designed by Urbano de Castro, this venue held regular performances until the 1960s. Geared towards revue theatre, some of Parque Mayer’s biggest hits were performed here, with illustrious casts including the likes of Beatriz Costa, Mirita Casimiro and Vasco Santana. Damaged by a fire in 1966, it was subsequently restored and in the 1990s hosted Filipe La Féria’s programme, “Grande Noite”.

Closed for the last three decades,  it is currently undergoing extensive renovation work that will provide it with new facilities suited to the needs of modern performance venues.
