Carlos Paredes was uniquely inspired and left a clear and profound mark on music composed for the Portuguese Guitar, allowing it to take on a new role.
Drawing on his music, António Miguel Guimarães (artistic director) and Pedro Jóia (musical director and classical guitarist) bring us a performance featuring various instruments. In keeping with what Carlos Paredes demanded of himself and his music, the concert will consist of free interpretations performed by Pedro Jóia, Joana Bagulho on the harpsichord, João Paulo Esteves da Silva on the piano and José Manuel Neto and Bruno Costa on the Portuguese guitar, with Carlos Manuel Proença and Nuno Botelho on the guitar. These musicians will present us with their own Variations on Paredes, in a show with live painting and drawing by António Jorge Gonçalves. What better way to celebrate April?
The concert “Variações sobre Paredes” will take place at Praça do Município, on April 27th, at 7 pm. Free entry.
