Housed in a former warehouse owned by Lisbon Municipal Council and renovated by architect Carrilho da Graça, this art centre aims to preserve, study, explore and share the private collection of artist Julião Sarmento (1948-2021). It consists of around 1,500 works of art, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, videos and installations, which Sarmento assembled over decades and reflect his unique artistic vision.
It also aims to be a meeting point, fostering interaction between the visual arts and other areas, reflecting the interdisciplinary spirt that characterised the life of the artist.
