This building is part of an urban industrial complex dating back to the nineteenth century, which later housed the studios of visual artists Lagoa Henriques, Maria Helena Matos, António Cândido dos Reis and Carlos Amado.
Opened in 2015, the gallery became home to the Espaço Coleção Arte Contemporânea – Lisboa Cultura in 2025. It aims to make the collection (which the Lisbon Municipality has been assembling since 2016) more public and accessible, while also serving as a space where new content is created and where events which promote critical reflection on contemporary artistic practice are held.
